When PayPal is the right call

PayPal is genuinely strong if you’re a small or casual seller, or a business that already runs on PayPal online and wants a simple, recognizable option. There is no monthly fee, setup is self-serve, and buyers everywhere trust the PayPal button. If that fits how you sell, PayPal may be the right choice, and we’ll tell you so.

Where AllProPay fits better

PayPal’s everyday rates, 2.99% + 49 cents on cards online and 3.49% + 49 cents through the PayPal button, are among the higher published flat rates, and the 49-cent fee adds up on smaller sales. With Dual Pricing, customers who choose to pay by card cover the card fee, so your card processing fees drop to $0. If you would rather keep one price for everyone, interchange-plus shows the real cost of each card, so a debit card costs far less than a premium rewards card. You also get a dedicated real person as you grow, and a free comparison on your own numbers.

One $100 online payment by debit card, two receipts: $3.48 with PayPal's published rate vs $0.77 with AllProPay interchange-plus Two receipts for the same $100 online payment by debit card, headed by the comparison $3.48 vs $0.77. PayPal's published online card rate of 2.99% plus 49 cents gives a $3.48 processing fee, the same fee a premium rewards card would pay. The AllProPay receipt lists the sale of $100.00, debit, paid online; the card cost for a big-bank debit card, $0.27; our markup at an example 0.50%, $0.50; and a fee on this sale of $0.77. Example: a debit card from a large bank, where the Federal Reserve caps the card cost at 21 cents plus 0.05% plus 1 cent. Cards from smaller banks cost more. Your markup is on your proposal. Common questions

Is AllProPay cheaper than PayPal?
Yes. With Dual Pricing, customers who choose to pay by card cover the card fee, so your card processing fees drop to $0. PayPal charges 2.99% + 49 cents on card payments online and on invoices, and 3.49% + 49 cents when the customer pays with PayPal, more than $149 a month on $5,000 in online card payments, and both rates blend the underlying interchange, so you can’t see what you actually pay. If you would rather keep one price for everyone, interchange-plus prices cheap cards cheaply and shows you every number. PayPal publishes its rates, so you don’t need to send a statement: tell us your monthly card volume and average sale, or send a sales report from your PayPal dashboard, and we’ll show you the difference on your own numbers.
What does PayPal charge per payment?
On its published pricing, PayPal charges 2.99% + 49 cents for card payments online, including invoices and payment links, and 3.49% + 49 cents when the customer pays with PayPal or Venmo. Keyed entries are 3.49% + 9 cents, and in-person payments through PayPal Point of Sale are 2.29% + 9 cents. There is no monthly fee or contract. Those are blended flat rates, so verify current pricing on PayPal's site.
Do AllProPay or PayPal lock you into a contract?
Neither uses a long-term contract or a cancellation fee. The difference is transparency and support: AllProPay shows every fee and what it’s for, and gives you a dedicated real person as you grow, while PayPal is built for simple, self-serve selling.
