When QuickBooks is the right call

QuickBooks Payments is genuinely strong if you invoice and run your books inside QuickBooks and want payments to land in the same place. Everything reconciles automatically, invoices get paid in a click, and there is nothing extra to manage. The pay-as-you-go plan has no monthly fee. If that is you, QuickBooks may be the right fit, and we’ll tell you so.

Where AllProPay fits better

Keeping payments inside QuickBooks is convenient, but a roughly 2.99% flat rate is high for steady invoice volume, and the business absorbs every fee with no built-in way to pass it on. AllProPay offers Dual Pricing, interchange-plus, or AllPro Rebate, whichever fits your business, shows every fee and what it’s for, gives you a person to call, and can still work with your accounting workflow.

One $100 invoice paid by debit card, two receipts: $2.99 with QuickBooks's published rate vs $0.77 with AllProPay interchange-plus Two receipts for the same $100 invoice paid by debit card, headed by the comparison $2.99 vs $0.77. QuickBooks's published invoice rate of about 2.99% gives a $2.99 processing fee, the same fee a premium rewards card would pay. The AllProPay receipt lists the sale of $100.00, debit, paid online; the card cost for a big-bank debit card, $0.27; our markup at an example 0.50%, $0.50; and a fee on this sale of $0.77. Example: a debit card from a large bank, where the Federal Reserve caps the card cost at 21 cents plus 0.05% plus 1 cent. Cards from smaller banks cost more. Your markup is on your proposal. SAME FEE, ANY CARD Debit costs less to accept A flat rate charges the same price on a cheap debit card as on a premium rewards card, so you cannot see what you actually pay. It depends on your card mix and how you sell. Interchange-plus shows you the true card-brand cost plus a clear, fixed markup. Verify current pricing on each provider's site. Common questions

Is AllProPay cheaper than QuickBooks Payments?
Yes. With Dual Pricing, customers who choose to pay by card cover the card fee, so your card processing fees drop to $0. QuickBooks Payments charges about 2.99% on every card and digital wallet invoice payment, about $150 a month on $5,000 in card payments, and blends the underlying cost so you can’t see what you actually pay. If you would rather keep one price for everyone, on interchange-plus you pay each card’s real cost plus a markup you can see, so a debit card costs far less than a premium rewards card instead of the same 2.99%. With Dual Pricing, the card fee is carried by the customer who chooses to pay by card, so your own processing cost can drop to near zero. QuickBooks publishes its rate, so you don’t need to send a statement: tell us your monthly volume and typical invoice size, or send a QuickBooks Payments report, and we’ll show you the difference on your own numbers.
Can I pass card fees to my customers with QuickBooks Payments?
QuickBooks Payments has no built-in way to pass fees to customers, so the business absorbs each fee. Fee handling depends on your state and the card-brand rules. AllProPay shows every fee and what it’s for, and walks you through your options where they’re allowed. Pricing changes, so verify current rates.
I only use QuickBooks to send invoices. Do I still need it?
If you don’t keep your books in QuickBooks, maybe not. QuickBooks Payments runs inside a QuickBooks Online subscription, which is billed separately from your payment fees, and plans often start at an introductory price before moving to the full monthly rate. If you only use it to send invoices, that subscription is a monthly cost of taking payments. AllProPay has invoicing, recurring billing and payment links, so you can send invoices and get paid without an accounting subscription. If you do keep your books in QuickBooks, keep it: our payments sync to QuickBooks Online.
Do AllProPay or QuickBooks lock you into a contract?
Neither uses a long-term processing contract on the standard plan. QuickBooks Payments has a pay-as-you-go option with no monthly fee, and AllProPay has no contract or cancellation fee. The difference is transparency and support: AllProPay offers the program that fits your business, shows every fee, and gives you a real person to call, and it can still work with your accounting workflow.
